A Conversation with U.S. Senator Richard J. Durbin
Senator Durbin has been a member of the Illinois congressional delegation for over thirty-seven years, serving first in the House of Representatives from 1983 to 1997, and then in the Senate since 1997. He currently serves as the Senate Democratic Whip and has served on the Senate Judiciary Committee since his first term. As a member of Judiciary Committee, Senator Durbin became the founding Chairman of Subcommittee on Human Rights and the Law. He currently serves as the ranking member of the Subcommittee on Border Security and Immigration. He also has participated in the confirmation hearings of six of the current United States Supreme Court justices. Senator Durbin will present brief remarks followed by a Q&A session.
